Resistant homes

A new threat for the financial markets is rising at the horizon: the chinese real estate company Evergrande, highly indepted ("Sorge vor Chinas 'Lehman-Moment': Drohende Pleite von Evergrande alarmiert die globalen Finanzmärkte", www.handelsblatt.com, 2021/9/16). Meanwhile buying or building homes for individuals is getting more and more expensive, not only in Switzerland but in some regions of Germany, e.g.,, too. The concepts are often similar: high standard middle class and upper middle class homes, well equiped or simple and empty, but made for all those who want to live a comfortable private life. Problems arise, of course, when demand does not meet offer or vice versa (if an apartment is not affordable, e.g., especially in and after the corona crisis). The ideal is bourgeois and all important concepts are orientated in this direction. Surely new ideas and concepts do exist, but remain often marginalized: small and very small homes, concepts for singles, green and sustainable living and so on. If they are getting attention on the global markets they are normally expensive and a little sophisticated already. It seems to be very difficult to quit objectives of high return and think about concepts that would allow persons who were forced to leave their apartments during corona crisis to find a new, modern and interesting solution. Why don't we, to just talk about one of many ideas, offer living boxes or very sophisticated container homes (examples see on alibaba.com), too, why are we not building blocks of living boxes of 10 or 50 m each and equipped like a middle class caravan or an ikea-minimalism? We would not need to prove that we deserve to be members of the middle class to be able to rent and entrepreneurs would not have to buy to live quietly, we would just book online with more or less equipment included for some weeks, some months or years and it would be a contemporary solution and surely a democratic offer and not a shame.  And we would not have to feel like in a home box neither as they do exist in Asia where you can find just a cell with a bed and a bathroom, it could be less functional and more cosy. There might be a lot to do in the future.
